Dr Sanjay Gupta is working as a Professor in the Department of General Surgery, Government Medical College and Hospital, Chandigarh, which is a tertiary care centre catering to the population of North India. He has experience of advanced laparoscopic procedures of more than 10 years with special interest in Laparoscopic Abdominal Wall/hernia repair (AWR) and Laparoscopic Colorectal and upper GI procedures.
Academic Achievements
- 35 publications in International and National journals and 02 Book chapters
- Collaborated in International Multicentric Trial coordinated by London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and supported by WHO on the role of tranexamic acid in trauma – Clinical Randomization of an Antifibrinolytic in Significant Haemorrhage (CRASH-2 TRIAL) – The results were later published in the Lancet
- On board of Directors of the ‘World Society of Emergency Surgery’ – An International organization based in Europe that promotes emergency care and surgery in acute conditions (till 2021)
- On Editorial Board of World Journal of Emergency Surgery (2006 -2021) and Journal of Medical College Chandigarh (2017-2018)
- Peer reviewer of various national and international surgery journals.
- Awarded Fellowship in Endoscopic Hernia Surgery at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, and trained under Dr. PK Chowbey and his team in performing laparoscopic surgery for all kinds of abdominal hernia (2007).
- Awarded Fellowship in advanced Laparoscopic colorectal (2018) and Bariatric surgery (2019).
- Guided number of post graduate students in their research work (2014 onwards).
